In September last year, I told you about AI’s interpretation of a vivid dream that I had. The analysis I was presented with by AI was somewhat disturbing.
It suggested that I am grappling with self-doubt and trying to overcome obstacles in expressing myself. Apparently, I am seeking external solutions to internal problems, and struggle with the frustration that arises when those solutions are incomplete or elusive.
My most intense dreams always seem to occur very late in my sleep. Of course, there is the possibility that I dream powerfully soon after I fall asleep but have forgotten them by the time I wake.
This morning, I woke from a dynamic dream at 7:45. I had been in a room with Warwick Jordan, someone whom I played cricket with for Finchley and have known for 55 years. We still meet occasionally.
We were packing our equipment into our kit bags as we prepared for the long drive to Birmingham to play in an important game. With us was Warwick’s brother. I had played with him a few times but in my dream, I couldn’t remember his name. I was embarrassed about this and hoped that Warwick would say something that would remind me what it is. He never did.
The phone rang and a voice chided us for not having set off. “If we win the toss,” the voice said, “we’re batting and you two are opening. You’d better not be late!”
The three of us got into my car with Warwick’s brother sitting next to me in the front passenger seat. I was worrying about a two hour journey with someone whose name I didn’t know.
Then I woke up.
Just before the one o’clock news today, I was on Facebook looking for photographs that my daughter is posting every day during her trip to Hong Kong. I was scrolling down the page when I came to the section titled “People you may know”. The first one was someone living in Perth Australia, called Elliot Jordan.
I haven’t seen or thought about Elliot Jordan since around 1985 and then, in the space of six hours, I dream about him and see a notification of him.
Go on AI, explain that. Is Meta delving into my dreams to feed its algorithms?
